A great way to encourage yourself to stick to better habits is to set New Year’s Resolutions. If you want to set some healthy habits that will improve your fitness fast, we’ve outlined 4 New Year’s Resolutions that can help you achieve that!

Motivation

Much of fitness is mindset. If you’re not motivated enough to put the work in, you’re really going to struggle to meet your targets. Putting a focus on getting and staying motivated this year will see your fitness come on in leaps and bounds. And quickly, too.

There are lots of things you can do to help with fitness motivation – our quick guide to gym motivation will point you in the right direction.

Rest Days

On the other end of the spectrum, a lot of people who love working out skip rest days. This is bad for both your mind and body.

Rest days are one of the most important parts of fitness – seriously! If you’re not taking rest days or aren’t properly resting on those days, your muscles will struggle to heal themselves, you’ll be more likely to become injured, and you may start to lose your motivation.

So, mark your rest days in the calendar and make sure that you stick to them! It will be better for you in the long run and you’ll see better results from your workouts.

Dietary

Fitness and diet fall hand in hand and, if you’re not considering what you’re eating, 2021 could be a great time to start!

Your fitness goals and the dietary changes that you’re prepared to make are completely personal to you and your preferences. While everyone’s different and there’s no set formula, there are some tried and tested ways of eating to enhance your fitness.

Think about your fitness goals and plan your diet from there. Even small changes can make a big difference. If you’re trying to lose weight, these meal ideas could be great options. If you’re trying to gain muscle, these meal ideas could be perfect for you.

HIIT

Have you tried HIIT yet? It stands for high intensity interval training. It’s a great way to see fast results if you’re trying to shed those extra pounds from Christmas.

Just like it says on the tin, high intensity interval training is where you do short bursts of intense exercise, stop for a short time, and then start again. As an example, that could be doing 30 seconds of sprinting on an inclined treadmill and having 30 seconds of rest. Rinse and repeat.
